Obituary

Edith Lucille Turner Casey of Denver, N.C. formally of Florence went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 23, 2017. She was born in Florence County on September, 27, 1922. She is predeceased by her husband, Melvin T. Casey; her parents, Molet and Hannah Kennedy Turner; brothers, Hoyt Turner, H.M. Turner, Ernest Turner, and Woodrow Turner; sisters, Iva Eunice Turner and Alma Fields Brown.

She is survived by her son, Melvin Thomas Casey Jr. (Pat), grandchildren, Sean Casey (Nicole), Olivia Hyatt (Shane), and Dan Meier (Melissa), great grandchildren, Kadence, Avery, and Eisley Casey and Ethan Hyatt., and a number of nieces and nephews.
Edith was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and found her greatest joy in spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her warm heart and kind disposition. Despite her limited eyesight she spent many years visiting the sick and homebound until her declining health prevented her from doing so.
She is currently a member of Westport Baptist Church in Denver N.C. and was a proud charter member of Northgate Baptist Church in Florence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Northgate Baptist Church with interment immediately following at Mount Hope Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday March 27, 2017 at Cain-Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home from 7-9 P.M.
In lieu of flowers Edith has requested memorials be made on behalf of her great-granddaughter, Avery Casey, who has Cerebral Palsy, for her care. Checks may be made out to Avery Casey, addressed to 1125 Melrose Ave., Florence, SC 29505.
