Wade Hampton Walters, III



Wade Hampton Walters, III, 72, of Florence, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the McLeod Hospice House. Mr. Walters was born in Hartsville, SC, a son of the late Wade Hampton Walters, II and Gladys Goodale Walters. He served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era and retired from Fiber Industries after working 35 years. He was a faithful member of the Florence Baptist Temple, where he was a member of the Jerry Ayers Sunday School Class. Mr. Walters exhibited his love for God’s creation through his passion for gardening and the outdoors. He consistently displayed the fruit of the Spirit throughout his life in his daily walk (Galatians 5 22-23).
Surviving are his loving wife of 47 years, Jane Elizabeth Young Walters; two sons, Wesley H. (Sarah) Walters of Greenville and Whitney H. (Amy) Walters of St. Augustine, FL; a brother, Bruce (Marissa) Walters of Hartsville; a sister, Chure’ (Robbie) Galloway of Hartsville; his step-mother, Sue Walters of Hartsville; five grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews who adored him.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 17, 2017 in the Florence Baptist Temple directed by Cain Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior in the foyer of the Sanctuary. A private family interment service with military honors will be held at a later date at Florence Memorial Gardens.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Frank Monroe Scholarship Fund or to the McLeod Hospice House.
