Valerie Lenore Potts Snelson, 73, of Florence, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017 at her residence. Mrs. Snelson was born in Palo Alto, CA, a daughter of the late Edward Cornelius and Joan Glover Potts. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, James Charles Snelson. Surviving are three children, Tracie Renee Snelson of Waukegan, IL, Laurie Kay Stokes of West Columbia, and Daniel Eric Snelson of Lexington; her twin sister, Marilyn Dana Purcell of Richfield Springs, NY; a brother, David Edward Potts of Lakewood, CO; six grandchildren, Seth William Kumpula, Amanda Christine Kumpula, Ryan Christopher Stokes, Zachary Spencer Stokes, Matthew Charles Stokes, Kyle James Snelson; and three great grandchildren, Ryan Charles Kumpula, James Franklin Kumpula, and Jeorgia Allen.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 27, 2017, from 6 – 8 PM at Cain Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 28, 2017, at St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church, which meets at Cross & Crown Lutheran Church, 3123 W. Palmetto Street in Florence. Inurnment will follow at the Florence National Cemetery on Monday, August 28, 2017, at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wreaths Across America, McLeod Hospice or to the Florence Area Humane Society.

Praises The Lord! My heart is very sad to hear our Father have called sister, Valerie home to be with Jesus!!! I knew her as a neighbor and sister in Christ at Habitat Apartments.
