Caroline Hathcock Mills



Mrs. Caroline Mills, the daughter of the late Robert Lee Hathcock and Margaret Elizabeth Rogers, was born September 20, 1937 in Edgewater, New Jersey. She attended the public schools of Bergen County, NJ and Darlington County, SC and was a graduate of the Certified Nursing Assistant program through Florence Darlington Technical College. She was a dedicated member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Florence, SC where she served faithfully as a Eucharistic minister and often assisted others by driving them to mass.

She was united in holy matrimony to Robert James Mills in August of 1960. This union was blessed with 4 children. Mr. Mills preceded her in death on January 15, 1976.

Mrs. Mills was an active member of the Florence Meals on Wheels program and a den mother with the Boy Scouts. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers she loved and the love she shared with her great grandson Dietz, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She departed this life Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the McLeod Hospital Hospice House in Florence, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Margaret Anne and Kathleen Anne, brothers, "Rebel" and "Billy" and sister Ruth.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children and grandchildren: Darlene Mills of Mesa, AZ; Barbara "Buffy" Mills with her children, Maggie and Emily Singerhouse of WI, Sean Mills with son Dietz and Barry Lee both of Florence SC.; sister, Margaret Louise of Darlington, SC; as well as brother and sister in law Roger and Patsy Hathcock of Darlington, SC; in addition, a loving host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 2, 2017, in the Chapel of Cain Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the services.
